Research summary
One-tenth of Canada’s gross domestic product (GDP) is tied to inventory: the raw materials, work in progress and finished goods that a company has at any point in time. Therefore, improving supply chain efficiency can result in substantial savings for companies—and boost Canada’s GDP.
As Canada Research Chair in Operations Excellence and Supply Chain Management, Dr. Woonghee (Tim) Huh is studying how to match supply and demand in supply chains and service systems. Using business analytics, he and his research team are analyzing data to understand and describe these systems and processes, build models to predict how systems will perform, and investigate how they can be improved by proposing robust policies that are simple yet effective. Ultimately, their research could contribute to the competitiveness of Canadian and international companies and organizations.
