Research summary

Biomedical data analytics is a rapidly growing field that brings together elements from different areas, including statistics, computer science, artificial intelligence and health. Dr. Neila Mezghani, Canada Research Chair in Biomedical Data Analytics, is developing analytical methods that focus on the unique characteristics of biomedical data.

Mezghani and her research team are trying to design and develop applications for the health sector, with the aim of bringing tangible improvements to the health of patients with chronic diseases. Their work will advance our knowledge of the analysis of small, unbalanced and highly variable biomedical data. It will lead to health decision support systems that are easier to interpret and have greater clinical impact and usability.
